Our PTA has been busy this year planning programs and events, and providing volunteer hours for the best elementary school in the district! If you’ve helped in any way, or simply become a member, THANK YOU, you are making a difference!
So far we have hosted a back to school picnic, distributed school supplies and spirit wear shirts, hosted an Arts contest (Reflections), hosted a parent education seminar on bullying with a game night for the kids, helped with literacy night, and began preparing the students’ weekly Tuesday folders so the teachers are relieved of the hassle. We have recruited room parents for our classrooms. We have increased our PTA membership over last year and have qualified for a few awards from Texas PTA including the Golden Apple award (100% faculty as members) and the Men Are Really Super award. In October, we started our High Five Fridays at the drop off car line. The first Friday of each month, join Rainwater supporters at the car line in encouraging our students to start the month off on the right foot. Wear a team jersey or spirit wear and high-five ‘em as they enter school.
AND... What a whirlwind Red Ribbon Week was! We had some great performances and theme days. The kids really enjoyed the week and heard some powerful messages about staying away from drugs. Former pro-football player Keith Davis joined us with an awesome message and some stunning strength displays.
We are currently preparing the PTA directory – free to all PTA members – and should be distributing it soon. We are also getting our taste buds ready for the annual Chili Cook Off. On December 7, we will travel internationally – or at least we will pretend – at the Heritage Fair. It is always a fun and educational experience, so be sure to make time for it before entering the busy holiday season. If you would like to share your family’s culture by hosting a table that night, please fill out the form in your child’s Tuesday folder and send it back. We would love to learn more about all the diverse cultures represented in our community.
Thank you for playing your part in helping Rainwater SHINE!
